Andy Renshaw

Head of Physiothetherapy Team - Liverpool FC

Andy Renshaw holds a Bachelors degrees in Physiotherapy, Sport and Exercise Science (specialising in Exercise Physiology), and has an MSc in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Andy has worked in a part-time capacity within Athletics and Rugby Union, and has 16 years of full-time experience as a Physiotherapist managing departments in Premier League Football. He commenced full-time employment at Bolton Wanderers FC in July 2002 and spent five years developing their Academy Medical and Sports Science Department, working with their First Team until 2009. During this time he was also the Clinical Director of his own Private Physiotherapy Practice in Manchester City Centre. In June 2009 he was offered the role of restructuring the Academy Medical Department at Liverpool Football Club, where he managed and developed that department until he was promoted by Jurgen Klopp to be the Head Of Physiotherapy for Liverpool FC, a role he held until November 2017.

During this time Andy has also acted as a Consultant to the Premier League for several years and has presented at Elite National Performance Conferences, and published the world’s first Injury Audit following UEFA guidelines within elite youth football.

He is currently a Consultant Physiotherapist at Harris and Ross Physiotherapy Clinic in Wilmslow, Manchester, and is the Head of their Football Rehabilitation Department.

Jelle Heisen

Jelle Heisen has been active as a physiotherapist since 2006. Heisen has many years of experience in the physical coaching of top athletes and has also been involved with the coaching of the Dutch women handball team for more than 6 years. In addition, he treated several (individual) Olympic athletes during their rehabilitation processes. Heisen also works for Movamento and, amongst other things, AFC Ajax. He also founded the ‘Stichting Elleboogkliniek.nl’. The objective of this foundation is to improve the quality of the orthopaedic and physiotherapy treatment of elbow complaints and injuries. Education Master of Science (MSc), Master Physical Therapy - Orthopedic Manual Therapy from Hogeschool Utrecht.

Kinetic Control Accredited Tutor

Koen is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist based in Gelrode, Belgium, completing his Masters degree in 1990 at the University of Leuven and continuing postgraduate education in Sports Physiotherapy. Since then he has consolidated and expanded his knowledge with an extensive program of musculoskeletal rehabilitation courses.  Additionally, he has also completed his manipulative therapy studies at SOMT in the Netherlands.Koen joined Kinetic Control in 2002 and has trained to become a Kinetic Control Accredited Tutor. Since 2006 he has been teaching Kinetic Control courses in both Holland and Belgium.

Studied physical therapy at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht (the Netherlands). He studied manual therapy at the Free University of Brussels (Belgium) and graduated cum laude in 2008. In December 2011 he started as a PhD student at the HAN University of Applied Sciences and the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center, both located in Nijmegen (the Netherlands). His PhD thesis (2015) entitled “Effectiveness of a self-management program for employees with complaints of the arm, neck, and/or shoulder” consisted of seven peer-reviewed publications. Nathan is currently working as a physical therapist and manual therapist in a private practice and as a researcher at the HAN University of Applied Sciences, research group Occupation & Health. His current research topics include self-management, (work related) musculoskeletal disorders, premanipulative screening procedures and healthy living. He is also a board member of the Dutch Association for Manual Therapy (NVMT) and Member Organisation delegate of the Netherlands in the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT).
